I have two of these in my dining room and they sound wonderful as a stereo pair. Especially with the max in the living room and a hub and mini in the kitchen. Heck, there are even all sorts of ways to get the full-blown Google Assistant experience without needing an old product staying on the shelves. Check — Sony, JBL, Bose, and even Google itself offer Bluetooth headphones that work seamlessly with Assistant and require no button tapping or fiddling. You betcha, and you'll find companies like Sonos with it's Sonos Beam and Sonos Move ready to give you a better-sounding Assistant than Google's old fabric and plastic models could ever offer. The Google Home speakers light up to show when they’re listening, but sometimes they might be triggered on accidentally by something that sounds similar to the hotword.
Other features of the Nest Audio smart speaker include a 19mm custom-designed tweeter for consistent high-frequency coverage as well as a 75mm mid-woofer. Another interesting feature is the Ambient IQ that enables Nest Audio to adjust the volume of Assistant, news, podcasts and audiobooks based on the background noise. Google is notorious for surprising the consumers by discontinuing some products and services. Unlike other Google products that we actually miss, though, nobody needs to buy a Google Home in 2020 or beyond. That's because Google Assistant has become one of those ubiquitous features that you can find in all sorts of products. No the Google Home Max isn’t spying on you, as in, it isn’t recording your conversations and delivering them to some foreign government.

The Home Max does support multi-room audio, but the Nest Audio has the same capability while significantly slashing the cost of adding a speaker to every room throughout the home. The Home Max wasn't a bad product, and still isn't, but the Nest Audio represents a cheaper, more versatile option that's likely to appeal to a greater number of consumers. Therefore, it makes sense that Google has now decided to retire the Home Max as there's already a Wi-Fi speaker that does most things just as well, if not better, for far less. In the end, Google seems to have determined it wasn't worth competing against itself any longer. The Google Home Max retailed for $399 when it was unveiled in 2017, promising powerful sound thanks to a pair of 114mm dual voice-coil woofers and corresponding 18mm tweeters.
However, the newer Nest speakers can't reach the same volume levels as the Home Max — the Home Max has a pair of 114mm subwoofers and 18mm tweeters, while a single Nest Audio has a 75mm woofer and a 19mm tweeter. The Nest Audio also doesn't have an AUX input, which was available on the Home Max. Over Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the large speaker was on sale for as much as 50% off in some places signaling Google wanted to get rid of remaining stock. There’s no word if Google plans to release an equally behemoth speaker, although the search giant did just introduce the Nest Audio. You can buy two for $200, which is half the Home Max’s original asking price.

The three-year-old smart speaker was Google's super-sized, if overpriced, option for whole-home audio setups. However, as a new generation of Google smart speakers is ushered in, the old are starting to see their way out.
The smart speaker also offered the benefits of a Smart Sound feature, which allowed the device to tune itself to the room it was placed in. Google Assistant was also onboard, so you could ask it questions, control your smart home, and more. It did have too much bass for audio purists, though, and the lossless audio options could have been better. Google knew that if it was going to make a speaker of this size meant for listening to music, then it had to sound good.
After three years, Google has officially discontinued the Home Max as inventory is depleted. It is among India’s top sources of breaking mobile news, and a technology category leader among early adopters, savvy technophiles, and casual readers alike. Google Home Max has been discontinued, the company confirmed in a statement to Engadget. The smart speaker which was announced in October 2017, will no longer be manufactured by Google and the company has sold out the last few units of the Home Max on the Google Store as well. Google Nest Hub is a speaker like the other Home devices but it adds a 7-inch touchscreen to its list of attributes – yes, it’s a smart display. Buying two Nest Audio speakers to run in stereo mode will cost you $200, which isn't exactly cheap, but that's still half the introductory price of the Google Home Max.
It doesn’t overpower the mids at all and when paired with how loud this thing can get, so it’s perfect for powering your parties. That said, it sounded good even at low volumes and I ended up using it to play music in the background throughout the day as well. I tested this by playing the song Havana by Camilla Cabelo at four different volumes .
While Google’s smart speakers and displays support video calling via Google Duo, the 127-degree field-of-view front camera opened up the Hub series to video calling. It also added a few special additions like auto-framing, letting it automatically zoom in and pan around during a call. For those interested, Google launched its latest Nest Audio smart speakers in India in October this year, claimed to be 75 percent louder than the original Google Home. The Nest Audio is priced at Rs 7,999 and can be bought in two colour variants – Chalk and Charcoal. There may be last few units in retail stores but it’s already sold out on the Google Store. If you own one, don’t worry as Google will still continue to offer support for the Home Max.
